looks like—beyond the clichés and well-meaning advice. Participants will gain valuable insights into emotional
self-care, practical coping strategies, and real-world advice for moving forward while honoring their emotions. Whether new to grief or further along in their journey, attendees will find support and understanding in a compassionate and honest space designed to explore emotions, reclaim peace, and find a path forward with

On December 21st, Tree City Church invites everyone to “The Longest Night” – a reflective, drop-in
experience created for those who feel a weight of grief or loss during the holiday season. This space
encourages participants to move at their own pace, stopping to light a candle, offer prayers, reflect
in silence, and find comfort in knowing they are not alone in their sorrow. 
There will be moments for
communion, opportunities to name personal grief, and a gentle reminder that even in the darkest night,
hope can still shine. 
Childcare will be available for Birth – Grade 6. Parents can feel at ease knowing
​their little ones are cared for while they embrace the stillness of the moment.

Children’s Home Counseling Services is launching a FREE grief support group for teens! This is a
safe space where young people (ages 12-18) can connect, find empathy, and participate in activities
that support emotional healing and coping. 
Encourage a young person you know to join for
meaningful conversations and support. Let’s build connections and heal together. 
They do not need
to be a Children’s Home Counseling Services client to participate. Groups are covered by most
insurances including Medicaid. Sliding scale program is available.

Guest Speaker: Dr. Tina Barrett, LCPC, Executive Director / Co-founder of Tamarack Grief Resource Center. Barrett’s commitment to excellence in grief and trauma care is matched by her profound dedication to healthy organizations and setting teams up for success. Drawing from her experiences as an Executive Director, Board Member, staff member, supervisor, supervisee, and volunteer, Dr. Barrett focuses on strength-oriented care and fostering healthy, effective workplaces. Her interactive workshops are informed by her work in schools, hospitals, private practice, group homes, treatment centers, and nonprofits. She serves on the Leadership Team for Project Tomorrow Montana, the Presidents’ Circle
for the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG), and the Advisory Board for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Dr. Barrett received the Community Educator Award from the
​Association for Death Educators and Counselors (ADEC) in 2019.

She currently resides between Edmonds and Waterville, WA. Her debut book, "A Wave Called Grief," explores her journey through loss and healing.

Join the RUN IN HER SHOES 5K/10K for infant loss and infertility virtual/in-person race scheduled around Mother's Day to support women affected by infertility, pregnancy loss & infant loss. A virtual/in-person race scheduled around Bereaved Mother's Day through Mother's Day to support those affected by loss and infertility. It's their 5th annual event and they would love you to join them in a race that supports a great cause around Mother's Day! Chances are, we all know women who have been affected by infertility, pregnancy loss, or infant loss. Mother's Day may not feel the same to them. This race will have a kick-off in-person event in Boise on May 5th, International Bereaved Mother's Day, and continue through May 15th with virtual options. If you can't join live in Boise, you can run on your own time and at your own pace. Your registration cost for all race options will contribute toward a fund to help mothers with bereavement counseling, funeral expenses, research, and infertility treatment costs. This year (2024) they will donate the majority of the money received to support SHARE for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support (Boise Chapter). In the past 4 years, they have raised over $5,000 in donations!

VIRTUAL RACE - Complete your registration then run or walk a 5K or 10K anywhere — sidewalks, paths, treadmill— sometime between May 5 and May 15. Run in stages or all at once, or multiple times even!

BOISE, ID - IN PERSON RACE - This race will occur May 5th at 2:00 PM. Check-in is at 1:30 PM at
Willow Lane Park (4618 W. Willow Lane). The course is out-and-back 5K going west on the Greenbelt near the Fairgrounds and back. Walkers, runners, and strollers are all welcome!

September is National Recovery Month! To celebrate, PEER Wellness Center invites you to attend
Boise's 8th Annual Recovery Rally on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM MT
at Julia Davis Park. 
The Recovery Rally Committee has done an incredible job of lining up some amazing music, food, and entertainment. This year's Recovery Rally will feature amazing food (and coffee) by Emily's Mexican
Grill, Kanak Attack, & Slow River Coffee. 
There will be an inflatable Jumphouse (for the kids), an inflatable
Obstacle Course (for the kids at heart), Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, a Cornhole Tournament, Photobooth, Facepainting, and music by DJ Mateo. 
You will also find friendship, community resources, as well as
inspiring stories of recovery.

Touchstone Grief and Loss Group: A Program for Grieving Children & Adolescents
Touchstone Grief and Loss Group: A Program for Grieving Children & Adolescents
The Touchstone program is operated by the Children’s Home Society of Idaho’s Warm Springs
Counseling Center. Touchstone Grief and Loss Group was established to support the special needs
of grieving children and adolescents ages 5- 18. Meetings begin with a potluck meal followed by
​participants being separated into peer groups for discussion and activities focused on grief and
coping skills. 
The next group starts on September 11, 2023, and runs for eight weeks, every
other week, on Mondays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM MST at their downtown Boise Center.

Empowers children and teens to:
- Identify their feelings.
- Recognize underlying emotions that trigger problem behavior.
- Develop coping skills by understanding death & grief.
- Share feelings & improve family communication.
- Interact with peers who have also experienced a death in the family.
Program highlights:
- Sessions facilitated by clinicians & professionals trained in the grief process.
- A supportive peer environment.
- Children's activities during sessions; group discussions, crafts & games designed to explore grief.
- Parental/guardian group sessions focusing on coping skills & supporting children through the grieving process.

Meetings begin with a potluck meal followed by participants being separated into peer groups for
discussion and activities focused on grief and coping skills. 
Attendees do not need to be a WSCC client.
Groups are covered by most insurances, including Medicaid. A sliding scale program is available.

Because Kids Grieve is presenting their 9th Annual Fall Bereavement Conference on Thursday,

with the opportunity to understand how grief in children differs from adult grief, and to

You are invited to join Good Grief Boise for a workshop Exploring Spirituality in Grief FREE community event
on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, at True North Yoga, near Hyde Park. 
Learn how to connect deeper ​to the spiritual realm and give yourself permission to lean into your own intuition, and explore various healing modalities that can be helpful following the loss of someone you love. These modalities will include a group reiki meditation session, tarot & oracle cards, intuitive impressions, and a discussion on how to utilize
these techniques in your daily life. 
Good Grief group facilitators Amanda and Angelina have created this
special community offering from their own life experiences in grief and loss after losing a dear friend. They
both are certified Psychic & Mediumship Development practitioners and Holy Fire Reiki Masters certified.

​The Boise Hive is excited to launch its Survivors of Suicide (S.O.S.) group. This group will focus on helping
those who have lost a loved one to suicide find support, closure, and peace.

One way you can help with suicide prevention and awareness is to participate in a local or national event. 
Those in the Treasure Valley of Idaho will have several opportunities to participate in different
prevention and awareness events that we will share on MGC.  
One great event is the 5th Annual
Ride for Jared, to remember the spirit of Jared Spero, who died by suicide in November 2017. 

All vehicles and riders are welcome to attend the ride on September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM MST.
The ride will begin at High Desert Harley Davidson. 
All other proceeds will benefit the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention and the Idaho Crisis and Suicide Hotline. 
50% of proceeds will be donated to a fund for Jared's daughter, Kaylie.

The Death Café
provides an opportunity for an open conversation about death. Facilitators will guide the process.
