Beauty for Ashes Gathering 2022
Save the Date - October 1, 2022

October 1, 2022, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM CST
Hurst Conference Center, 1601 Campus Drive, Hurst, Texas 76054
Virtual Option is Available!

Gathering Hope is a collective experience for bereaved mothers, held each October to both
remember our children and honor our unique motherhood. As fellow survivors, they invite you to
join them for powerful speakers, uplifting worship, and a sacred, intimate atmosphere where you are
regarded as a truly honored guest.
Inspired by Isaiah 61, we are excited to share this year’s theme,
BEAUTY FOR ASHES. "He has sent me to...bind up the brokenhearted...to comfort all who mourn...to give
them a crown of beauty in place of ashes..."Isaiah 61:1-3.
Gathering Hope has hosted an annual
Gathering for miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss survivors since 2015.

This year, they are thrilled to announce that we have THREE different ways where you can
connect with the people who understand you most…other moms.

1. Their first ever FULL DAY CONFERENCE! You will experience worship, be encouraged
by guest speakers, intentionally connect with other women, attend breakout sessions,
meet with specially selected vendors and MORE.

2. Attend Gathering 2022 Virtually. You’ll be able to simultaneously view the worship
session, our speakers *and* gather in breakouts rooms with other attendees, just like
we do at our in-person Gathering.

3. Gather with other loss moms in your area. By streaming the Gathering 2022 worship & speaker
sessions and using the Leadership Kit as your guide, you’ll be empowered to host a Gathering!

How will YOU join them for Gathering 2022?

You matter, Mama. Your baby matters. Your story matters.

International Bereaved Father's Day - 28 Aug 2022

International Bereaved Father's Day
Thinking of all our bereaved dads today and sending them so much love and support. Today, August 28th
is International Bereaved Father's Day, which falls each year on the last Sunday of August.

While Father's Day in June is celebratory, this observance recognizes all the dads who have experienced
the grief and trauma caused by the death of their baby or child in any way.

It serves as a day of remembrance, hope, healing, and a time to deal with the enormous pain associated with
such a loss.
In addition, it calls out stigma against grieving fathers in general as they sometimes grieve
differently from their partners.
They are often pressured to be strong and don't feel free to express their
grief openly. But fathers grieve deeply too and should be allowed to grieve in their own way.

International Bereaved Father’s Day, launched in 2010, was created to raise greater awareness about parents
living after child loss – and allow people to remember the child or children they love and miss openly.

We acknowledge all the grieving dads out there. Whatever feelings today evokes for you are valid.

Blue Hour--Haiku and Photographs - By Amory Hayden Tarr (Edited By Kathy Allen)

Kathy Allen loving edited, "Blue Hour—Haiku and Photographs,"
a moving collection of haiku written by her son late Amory as a way
to continue the bonds they share and carry their loving relationship forward. Illustrated with Tarr's own breathtaking photographs,
this small volume of thought provoking poems highlights the striking beauty of nature and
Amory's expansive spirit.
This volume would make a wonderful gift of comfort for anyone who has experienced a significate loss, especially for bereaving parents or those who have lost a loved one to suicide.

Blue Hour—Haiku and Photographs - By Amory Hayden Tarr
(Edited By Kathy Allen)

"Blue Hour—Haiku and Photographs by Amory Hayden Tarr is a tribute to my son Amory who died by suicide on April 24, 2020. It is a small collection of his haiku poems written by Amory while he was living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The photographs are taken by Amory and are a mere representation of the photos he took while traveling around the world working on organic farms. He left home at age eighteen to work on an organic farm in the Northern Territory of Australia. The blue hour refers to the darker stages of twilight when the sun is quite far below the horizon and the sky turns deep blue. As you go through this book you will discover the magic that Amory captured in his words and images. May this remind us all of the beauty of nature as well as the beauty of Amory’s spirit."

November is Worldwide Bereaved Siblings Month

Picture
November is Worldwide Bereaved Siblings Month
Please take some time to reach out to someone you know who has lost a sibling(s), acknowledge the loss
and show them that you care. The loss of a sibling often causes deep pain and heartache that nobody
can imagine who has not gone through it themselves. Sibling grief is often misunderstood and
marginalized and siblings are sometimes called 'the forgotten mourners."

The focus of the loss is usually on the parents, child, or spouse of the deceased, and rightly so, but the
siblings may feel like their grief is overshadowed by the grief of other family members. Siblings suffer tremendously when they lose one another, especially so if the death is sudden or out of order. Often times
surviving siblings feel survivor's guilt, abandonment, loss of innocence, family dysfunction, somatic
symptoms, fear and anxiety when their brother or sister dies. Sibling relationships often hold deeply
complex, rich attachments, so when one dies the other is often left feeling untethered and like they have
had a limb amputated. Their memory keeper and life witness has suddenly disappeared forever.

Often our siblings hold truer knowledge of us than anyone else, perhaps even ourselves. With the
death of a sibling the shared history they had, and hoped for future they wanted to have with them is
lost and that creates a great deal of uncertainty, insecurity and anxiety, and that usually goes
unacknowledged and misunderstood by others.

There is a saying that rings true that, "When a parent dies, you lose the past.
When a child dies, you lose the future. When a sibling dies, you lose the past and the future."

This November make an effort to connect with someone you know who has lost a sibling…even if it was years ago. Let them know you’re thinking about them and how sorry you are for the pain of their loss.
