The Titus Scott Foundation's Virtual Grief Support Group for Bereaved Parents
Launching September 2026 Grief was never meant to be carried alone. This September, our friends at The Titus Scott Foundation are launching free, clinician-facilitated grief support groups for bereaved parents. These groups will offer a safe, compassionate place for parents to better understand their grief, develop tools for the hardest days, and connect with others who understand this kind of loss. The in-person group will be small and closed, allowing participants to build trust and safety together. It will pause in December while the foundation evaluates the program, with the possibility of beginning a new round in January. A virtual grief support group will also begin in September and continue meeting through December. Facilitated by a Doctor of Psychology, the group will combine professional clinical guidance with the comfort and connection of peer support. The virtual group is available to bereaved parents outside the local area, as well as those who prefer the privacy, accessibility, and convenience of participating from home. Participation is completely free. Come exactly as you are. Because grief is deeply personal, but it was never meant to be carried alone. For more information email [email protected] or visit www.thetitusscottfoundation.org Call or text 208-404-0408 to receive the virtual group link. The Titus Scott Foundation: FREE Workshop Series for Bereaved Parents
Wednesdays, 6:00–7:15 PM MT 310 N. 17th Street, Boise, Idaho (Corner of 17th and Bannock) September 23, 2026: “Grief: What Is It?” - Presented by Dr. Mary-Ann Sontag October 21, 2026: “Building Your Grief Toolkit" - Presented by Shane Dutty, LCPC November 18, 2026: “When Grief Meets the Holidays” - Presented by Dr. Mary-Ann Sontag and Katie Gullickson, LPC This series brings together grief education, peer support, and professional facilitation to create a compassionate space where parents can better understand their grief while connecting with others who truly understand the experience of losing a child. Grief can affect far more than emotions. It can impact the nervous system, memory, concentration, sleep, relationships, identity, and the way a person moves through everyday life. Through evidence-informed education, parents can begin shifting from “What is wrong with me?” to understanding what grief is doing within the brain and body. Along with education, these workshops offer something equally important: connection. Grief can be profoundly isolating, and the loss of a child can make it especially difficult to feel understood. Peer support allows bereaved parents to sit alongside others without having to explain or minimize the magnitude of their loss. Each workshop is professionally facilitated, providing structure, guidance, practical coping tools, and grief education while honoring the lived experience and wisdom of bereaved parents. This is not group therapy. It is a professionally facilitated psychoeducational and peer-support program designed to help bereaved parents understand their grief, build practical coping tools, reduce isolation, and feel supported as they learn to carry what cannot simply be “fixed.” Learn more and register at: https://www.thetitusscottfoundation.org/ 👣Run in Her Shoes Memorial In-Person & Virtual 5K & 10K Walk/Run👣

Bereaved Parents Awareness Month is a month dedicated to raising awareness of the support necessary when one endures the loss of a child. Bereaved Parents Day will take place on Wednesday, July 3rd, to raise awareness for all parents who have lost a child of any age and from any circumstance. This day of support was initiated in 2020 by the UK charity A Child of Mine after they realized there wasn't a specific day honoring bereaved parents from all walks of life. The theme this year is "Love Lives On". The aim is to unite every bereaved parent from all walks of life and to break the silence around loss. Sadly, babies and children die, but it's time to stop the taboo and start talking about death and loss and show up with empathy for bereaved parents. Please join us to help spread the message, keep the conversation going, and show the bereaved parent community that they are NOT alone. Participate by lighting a candle on Wednesday, July 3rd, at 7:00 PM in your timezone to remember all of the children who have lost their lives too soon. If you would like to share a photo on social media to show your support, please use the hashtags: #nationalbereavedparentsday2024 #bereavedparentsday2024 #achildofmine #LoveLivesOn #NBPD24 Let's come together to honor and support parents who have faced the unimaginable loss of a child by spreading love and compassion. Let's raise awareness, foster understanding, and provide a community of comfort and healing. Share stories, lend a listening ear, or simply light a candle to show that no one has to grieve alone.
