National Grief Awareness Day 2023
Wednesday, August 30, 2023 Wednesday, August 30th, is National Grief Awareness Day, a great opportunity and reminder to talk about and normalize the grief experience. This day is NOT a HOLIDAY. This day is not a day to remind us to grieve. Help make this Day a Legal Day of Education and Awareness by signing the petition. You can go to Change.org and type in National Grief Awareness Day. Maybe take a moment to reach out to someone you know who is grieving a loss and let them know you care and that they are not alone, offer support, and just listen. If you are grieving, I encourage you to take some time today to acknowledge your grief and all you have lost. You might also evaluate any gains from your grief process if that feels helpful. If you feel up to it, consider sharing some of your grief story with a safe person who can listen with empathy or with someone who may benefit from your wisdom, experience, strength, and hope. Don't forget to offer yourself some extra compassion and grace for what you are going through. It's hard. Grieving is not easy, but it is easier when we are not alone. If you feel alone, please reach out for support in any way you can.
