Wednesdays from January 11 - April 5, 2023, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM MT

Have you recently lost a loved one? GriefShare classes will begin in January. Classes will be meeting in room 210. This is a 13 week video/discussion

toward rebuilding your life.
Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: Video seminar with experts, support group with discussion for focus &
personal study and reflection. The cost is $20 for the workbook, but scholarships are available.

Connections: Peer Support
Connections is an online directory where people who are living with suicidal thoughts and feelings, including those who have survived attempts,
can connect with others who have been there for support in their journey of recovery.  Connections peer support volunteers serve as supportive listeners
and, if helpful, share their experience of recovery and suicidal intensity. Connections is a network for communication and remote-only informal support that
is driven by the individuals and peer supporters themselves. It is not a full-time service and peer supporters are not mental health service professionals.
Connections peer supporters are friendly volunteers– they are not working as professional treatment providers and should not be relied upon as a primary
source of care in urgent situations. If you are in a crisis , and/or if you are experiencing intense urges or thoughts of harming yourself now, contact a suicide prevention hotline in your country right away. In the USA, call 1-800-273-8255 or select the chat service. Another option in the USA is the Crisis Text Line.
Text HOME to 741-741 to get started. In the event of a medical emergency, i.e. if you or someone you know is in the process of a suicide attempt,
call the emergency service of the country you are located right away (Dial 911 if you are in the USA)
.

Meet-Up for Survivors of Murder-Suicide Loss
Meet-Up for Survivors of Murder-Suicide Loss
You are not alone. After murder-suicide loss survivors may feel isolated and stigmatized.
This peer-led
group was founded to provide hope and collectively support each other through
this rare type of loss which, unfortunately, is an everyday occurrence in the United States. They welcome all survivors of
murder-suicide loss, regardless of their relationship to those
who died. They emphasize welcoming all kinds
of survivors of this type of loss as they
understand, for many people, you cannot “choose sides.” The loss of multiple people after this type of suicide loss is incredibly complex to navigate. Survivors include, but are not limited to, the following circumstances: sibling and/or step-sibling loss, parental and/or step-parental loss,
child or step-child loss, spouse,
ex-spouse, partner or ex-partner loss, in-law loss, friend loss, witnesses of murder-suicide with or without direct connections to the victim and/or perpetrator, and attempted
murder-suicide survivors.
This peer led group is a hybrid traditional support group and action group.
They welcome those
interested in either, or both. Their 90-minute format is conveniently divided to accommodate attendees with interests in traditional support and/or advocacy.

Brittany Noble McCarthy and Sara Cobb are survivors of murder-suicide loss and the co-founders of this
unique support network which launched in 2020 and today has
connected survivors across the country.
The group typically meets every other Friday evening via Zoom at 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST.

Contact Brittany at brittanynoblemccarthy (at) gmail.com or Sara at mygriefconnection (at) outlook.com
if you would like more information.
They ask all attendees to complete an initial phone or video call
with one of the group leaders to ensure the environment is a good fit and to ensure the safety and
privacy of all group members.

Prerequisites for group participation:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be currently in professional counseling/therapy, actively seeking professional
counseling/therapy, or have a willingness to professional counseling/therapy in the future
- Must be willing to share contact information with the group leads for emergency use only

Serving Both Kansas & Missouri
SASS (Suicide Awareness Survivor Support) believes the public must be educated about suicide. We sincerely feel that "Suicide is everyone's business."
With this in mind, SASS has five steps that we’re taking to make sure that "Suicide is everyone’s business." SASS unites survivors of suicide (family,
friends, etc.) by organizing community support groups throughout the MOKAN metropolitan area. These support groups are peer led and open to anyone
grieving from the death of a suicide. SASS also holds an annual remembrance walk for those affected by a traumatic death. Thus, it becomes a gathering place to share with others and celebrate the lives of those we have lost. Support for survivors include: family, friends, and faith.

Suicide Survivors Support Group
Beginning on November 14, 2022, from 5:00 - 6:30 PM PST
Join the folks at Clear Mourning for their virtual suicide survivors support group. This group is for those
who have had a family member, friend, loved one, or someone close die by suicide. The purpose of this
group is to help fight the stigma around suicide and bring light to what life looks like for survivors of suicide.  This group will be focused on processing the losses and learning how to navigate the individual grief that
each survivor experiences. The group will be facilitated by Ally Lopez, MC, NCC, Professional Counselor Associate. Ally has been practicing therapy in Bend, Oregon for 5 years and specializes in trauma work.
She graduated with her Master’s from OSU- Cascades and has a strong interest in how trauma affects
the mind, body, and spirit as a whole.  She works with clients who experience a wide range of mental
health symptoms and was a crisis therapist before she started to work as an outpatient therapist in 2022.
Her theory on grief is rooted in her own deep losses throughout childhood and later on as an adult.
She believes that while grief is a universal experience, it is an individual healing journey, no two grief journeys are the same.  Her therapeutic work is centered on the client and what they need, however, is also trauma-informed. She believes that we all have the tools to heal, we just need help discovering them.
Attendees must be:

- Committed to attending each week for 8 weeks
-
Open and willing to actively participate
-
Relatives/close friends of someone who has died by suicide
-
Looking for a community of individuals who have a shared traumatic experience
-
Interested in developing tools to help navigate life post-loss
The group’s first meeting will be on November 14, 2022, from 5:00 - 6:30 PM PST.
