About
Welcome to My Grief Connection (MGC). I'm so sorry that have to be here because that likely means you've lost someone or something very
important to you and I know how badly that can hurt. You've joined a club that no one wants to be a member of.
The creation of this site has been a labor of love and a way for me to channel some of the deep grief and pain I carry from the tragic murder-suicide
loss of my older brother and his fiancé. I launched this humble web site on July 4, 2019, the one year anniversary of their deaths.
I've worked in library reference for a number of years and do genealogy as hobby, so I'm pretty good at online research, but even with my
searching skills, I struggled in the first year of my loss to find current grief resources especial ones local to the Treasure Valley Idaho area.
I spent hours looking for support groups, counselors, videos, movies, books, events, etc. to help me in the slog through
my grieving process. I had an epiphany in June 2019 that if I was having a hard time finding help, others must be as well. I realized that
there needed to be a landing page so people don't have to scour the web for ages looking for help in the midst of a grief crisis.
This site is also for those loving family & friends who want to be supportive of someone who is grieving and need information
to be effective and empathetic helpers. Whatever the reason you have stumbled on to MGC, I hope that you find connection, community,
and comfort here. This is a one-man-show, run by an amateur webmaster, so this won't be the most professional or flashy website.
It won't be perfect. Thankfully, perfection isn't the goal here. My goal is to create and maintain a centralized online location which
provides connection to current grief, loss, mental health and crisis help services and resources to support individuals, families and
mental health professionals in the Greater Treasure Valley Idaho area, and far beyond.
I am not a professional therapist, grief counselor or grief professional, or an expert in grief, but I do have my own grief
experiences to pull from. I want to be of help to those struggling and suffering with loss, and I have great compassion for your pain.
I'm here to share my experience, strength and hope with you. I'll do my very best to keep the information and links
up-to-date, but please contact me if you notice errors, broken links, or if you have suggestions
for resources to include. Sending you love & prayers from one grieving heart to another.
Blessings,
Sara J. Cobb, LMT, BCTMB

Sara J. Cobb - Biography
Sara J. Cobb is the Founder of My Grief Connection, a hub of grief resources and a growing community of support for grievers.
Her passion and advocacy for grief and mental health education grew from a combination of her interests, strengths, and life experiences.
She was called to connect fellow grievers with resources for healing after her own trauma of loss, following the tragic deaths of her two older brothers,
43 years apart – one by freak accident and one in a murder-suicide. She finds meaning by sharing her story of mending from the wounds of sibling and suicide bereavement, and guiding others toward tools and resources that offer hope and healing after loss. Sara has worked as a public library associate
for the last 16 years and is also a board certified, licensed massage therapist. Born in Seoul, South Korea she grew up a missionary and pastor's kid, living in
several states before moving to Idaho to attend college, where she earned a degree in Speech Communications with an emphasis in film studies and drama.
An introvert who can spend countless hours exploring any topic of interest, Sara is a true book lover, podcast addict, and research nerd. When not
investigating the internet for every grief resource she can get her hands on, she loves creating and appreciating art, binge-watching movies & TV shows,
reading, hunting for treasures at thrift stores, going to therapy, getting massages, traveling, dancing, and obsessively researching her genealogy.
She currently enjoys solo living in her cute apartment in the suburbs of Boise, Idaho.
