Wednesday, August 30, 2023 Wednesday, August 30th, is National Grief Awareness Day, a great opportunity and reminder to talk about and normalize the grief experience. This day is NOT a HOLIDAY. This day is not a day to remind us to grieve. Help make this Day a Legal Day of Education and Awareness by signing the petition. You can go to Change.org and type in National Grief Awareness Day. Maybe take a moment to reach out to someone you know who is grieving a loss and let them know you care and that they are not alone, offer support, and just listen. If you are grieving, I encourage you to take some time today to acknowledge your grief and all you have lost. You might also evaluate any gains from your grief process if that feels helpful. If you feel up to it, consider sharing some of your grief story with a safe person who can listen with empathy or with someone who may benefit from your wisdom, experience, strength, and hope. Don't forget to offer yourself some extra compassion and grace for what you are going through. It's hard. Grieving is not easy, but it is easier when we are not alone. If you feel alone, please reach out for support in any way you can. Join the FREE live event for anyone facing loss featuring Angie Cartwright, the founder of the National Grief Awareness Day initiative, at https://www.facebook.com/events/813087096848100 at 8:00 PM EST on August 30, 2023. "We don't grieve just the moment our loved one died. We grieve the past, the future, and the now. Grief Guide Consulting Office in Old Town San Diego, California Wednesday Evenings From 6:30 - 8:00 PM PST, Six Weeks, Beginning September 20, 2023 Wendy Kessler, Grief Specialist of Grief Guide Consulting, and Chetta Levell, Pet Therapy Coordinator, are launching a 6-Week Pet Loss Support Group that will begin meeting in person at Wendy's office in Old Town San Diego, California, on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM PST, beginning September 20, 2023. This group is limited to 8 participants and pre-registration is required. The cost is $50 per session, $300 if paid in advance. For many people, pets are a family member as well as the loved one we go to for comfort, and so their death can be devastating. Furthermore, grieving the loss of a beloved pet can be complicated by a lack of support because pet loss isn’t always acknowledged or validated by our network of family and friends. If you are grieving the death of your pet and longing for more support from people who understand, this group may be the space you need to process your grief. If you are interested in attending, click on the link in the bio at @griefguideconsulting to schedule a phone call with Wendy for more info. December 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM Local Time On the second Sunday in December, the Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting brings together family and friends from all around the world to light candles for an hour to remember the sons, daughters, siblings, sisters, and grandchildren who left this world too soon. On December 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM local time, thousands of people will light candles in remembrance of all the children who passed away too soon. The annual Worldwide Candle Lighting (WCL), a gift from The Compassionate Friends to the mourning community, is now regarded as the largest mass candle lighting on the planet. As it travels from time zone to time zone, it produces a virtual 24-hour wave of light. TCF's WCL began in the United States in 1997 as a modest internet observance and has since grown in popularity as word of the memorialization traveled throughout the world. Families come together in quiet commemoration of children who have died and will never be forgotten as thousands of informal candle lightings take place in homes as well as hundreds of formal candle lighting ceremonies.
