Bucket List Adventure: Putting Faith Over Fear
So I did a thing the other day. I crossed a big adventure off of my bucket-list. I wrangled my dear friend Mattie into going skydiving with me at DZone Skydiving near Boise, Idaho!
I originally planned on doing this on July 4th, to celebrate my birthday, honor of the 3 year marker of my brother Sky's death, and commemorate the 2nd birthday of My Grief Connection, but due to circumstances beyond my control it was postponed.
Even though I didn't get to do it on the day I had planned to, was still an amazing and exciting experience. My younger brother Adam was able to go with me for moral and photographic support, which was super special.
I was able to spread some of Skyler’s cremains in the sky right before jumping as well. We had talked about going skydiving together someday. Even thought it wasn't the way we planned it, we got to do it together after all.
I was shockingly calm and not that nervous. I even slept well last night, which was a surprise. Of course, there was a "Holy Crap!" moment when getting into position on the edge of the plane and the first few seconds of free fall, but after I caught my breath, it was just awesome. It was pretty smokey over Boise that day, but I still had just a mind blowing view!
I'm so thankful I had the chance to do this and am so proud of myself. I know that Sky is proud of me too. I'm grateful I got to have this adventure with my sister-friend Mattie. We are certainly bonded for life now!
It's thrilling to kick off this new phase of my life with a challenge to put my faith over my fear! Now I know I can do much more than I ever thought I could. I'm looking forward to seeing what other fears I can face and overcome!
